Dear Sixth Graders and Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to sixth grade Language Arts! I hope you had an enjoyable and restful summer. I am excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I am looking forward to a successful and productive school year. At Indian Trail, Language Arts consists of both reading and writing.
We will be reading a variety of stories from many different genres. You will also be given many opportunities to further express your feelings about the different readings in your writing. You will continue to work on the reading strategies; connect, evaluate, visualize, predict, clarify, questions, and summarize. You will also focus on the two types of writing; narrative and argumentative.
This year is going to be filled with many fun and adventurous activities that will enhance both your reading and writing skills. We will be using our imaginations and creativity a lot. I can’t wait to see all that you will accomplish this year! Please read over the attached hand-outs and return the contact information sheet with your child. If you ever need to contact me, please do not hesitate.
